LACUNA is delighted to announce its appointment as curator of the Public Art Programme at Paddington Square, a new urban destination in central London designed by the Renzo Piano Building Workshop and developed by Sellar on behalf of Great Western Developments.

The winner of an invited competition, Lacuna’s innovative public art programme will activate Paddington Square as a civic space and an urban destination with a cultural conscience. The programme, due to be unveiled in spring 2022, will present multiple permanent public artworks and temporary interventions produced by international and UK contemporary artists. The programme’s mission is to present new contemporary art encounters and civic conversations in dialogue with the local community and local stakeholders, and to attract diverse new audiences.

The project is led by Lacuna director, Stella Ioannou, with associate curator, Jade Niklai. With 20 years of independent curatorial practices in art, architecture and urbanism, Stella and Jade join forces on Paddington Square to continue to build Lacuna’s successful practice of realising contemporary public art projects.
