Dr Andrea Schlieker (born Lübeck, Germany) was appointed Director of Exhibitions and Displays at Tate Britain in 2018. Previously, she was Director of Commissions and External Projects at White Cube, founding Curator of the Folkestone Triennial (2008 and 2011), Curator at London's Institute of Contemporary Arts and Deputy Director of the Serpentine Gallery (1988–1995).
Dr Schlieker has worked in a curatorial capacity on many prestigious national and international public art projects, including the Fourth Plinth at Trafalgar Square, London (2005–2007), Antony Gormley’s Angel of the North in Gateshead UK (1998) and Rachel Whiteread’s Holocaust Memorial in Vienna Austria (2000).
Dr Schlieker is a long-standing selection jury member of Sculpture in the City.
