Yayoi Kusama

Born in Matsumoto City, Japan in 1929, Yayoi Kusama is Japan’s most revered female artist. She represented Japan at the Venice Biennale in 1993 and has been the subject of many major international museum exhibitions. She was celebrated by Tate Modern earlier this year with a major retrospective, which tours to the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York this July. Kusama lives and works in Tokyo.
