Stella Ioannou, Founding Director of Lacuna and Artistic Director at Sculpture in the City, chaired a meaningful discussion at the London Art Fair: ‘Tampa Bay: What’s Fuelling Growth in Public Art’.
Stella was joined by Ya La’ford, Artist, Educator and Muralist; Jason Bruges, Multidisciplinary Artist and Designer; and Santiago Corrada, President and CEO of Visit Tampa Bay. The conversation sparked engaging questions about the interaction between art and place as well as the impact of public art on communities.
In Tampa Bay, the destination’s dynamic collection of public art is growing, fast becoming a popular destination for visitors to see large-scale public art, murals, and installations.
It was fantastic to hear how Tampa Bay have laws which ensure that developers either commission a new work or contribute to a citywide art fund. An inspiring example that offers much to reflect on and consider.
