Aldgate in Winter 2022 was a day-long celebration of the thriving local community of Aldgate in East London. It returned for its sixth year, and for the first time it was delivered by Aldgate Connect BID and produced by Lacuna.
The festival is a staple event in the local community calendar with highlights including lantern-making workshops and parades, live music and theatre performances, winter markets, a community feast, alongside themed food and beverage offerings.
The curatorial theme of Aldgate in Winter 2022 was 'Local Heroes' and informed all activities, including the inaugural outdoor exhibition honouring leading community members in new works by photography students at London Metropolitan University.
Key stakeholders were engaged through Community Curator workshops, planned and led by Lacuna. All activities were free and everyone was welcome.
The festival and associated activities were made possible with the support of the local community and from investment by the levy-paying businesses in Aldgate.
